Break for a hat

I should have finished this awhile ago, it certainly wasn't hard, I just kept ignoring it. Although I had some trouble with the decreases at first and had to frog which annoyed me tonight.

Cast on and moving along

I've been working on Jaywalkers in the smaller size and they are much better fit. Now they are comfortably big. Before, they were HUGE big.

Also car repair was not as costly as it could have been. It was the alternator belt melting away. But I caught it before it did more damage so only had to buy belt and tensioner. Someone else I know just had to have alternator replaced and paid about 3x what I had to.

Just another update...

Ok, these are Jaywalker socks, however they are about to "rip-it, rip-it" straight to frog pond because they are too big. But I can prove with picture that I did start two-at-a-time, toe-up. I haven't frogged yet because if I frog and don't restart immediately I may not because I'm annoyed about the whole thing. (my own fault for not thinking of negative ease when looking at measurements but at least they aren't super far)

In other news, saw Broadway Lion King today. I have to say it was just fabulous! We were in the 2nd row which was a little too close (couldn't see all of the stage) but we did get to see the costumes and everything up close which was very neat. I can't really do it justice explaining but son and I had a great time.

Sadder news, my car is acting up. Current suspicion is that the alternator has gone bad and decided to fry my battery. Nasty smell and weird sizzling noises from the battery compartment. I have a friend that will help me drop my car off but the whole thing is a pain. And it means I miss meeting up with other knitters tomorrow.

But generally things are going pretty well so I'll accept the bad, enjoy the good and move on with life!

Happy crafting - DFly
P.S. And my older kitty takes after her human mother... she has a sprained ankle.

Can I double-tag?

Cami tagged me but of course we read many of the same blogs so I'm low on people to tag back!

So here are the rules apparently
  1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog
  2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
  3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
  4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
So let's see what I can put for facts:
  1. I collect Wizard of Oz items. This started because a relative collected the books and even had the Ruth Plumly Thompson ones. I was supposed to eventually get them but through an unfortunate chain of events, all of them were ruined except for one book that I happened to be borrowing at the time. Since then I've made it my goal to collect all the books and other items. Most of the books are readable versions but some of them are old rare copies. I've got a mini castle, most of the dolls for the Mego playsets, a movie lunchbox (a new addition, christmas gift from good friend).

  2. I also have quite the assortment of Barbie dolls. and yes periodically I go through and buy them new clothes and spend an afternoon just re-dressing everyone. Try not to hold it against me.

  3. When I was in 6th grade, I broke fingers on my left hand. I was playing a game called four-square, tripped on someone's foot and broke my fingers between my hip and the pavement. The fun part was that I got to wear a piece of plywood strapped to my hand so I wouldn't bend the fingers. In 6th grade, I discovered this was a great way to beat up on boys. And no, they didn't heal quite right, there's quite a bend in one of them.

  4. I still haven't mailed the second Mother Bear Project bear. She's cute and I haven't had the heart to stuff her in an dark envelope to go through the post office systems.

  5. I have been working on a plastic canvas Barbie-sized castle. It's for me, not anyone else. Haven't worked on it as much since I got addicted to knitting.

  6. You can bribe me to do just about anything with Red Vines or coffee. Most people in "real life" know this but I think it's news to most of the blog world.

  7. My birthday is Fourth of July so I've got this large collection of patriotic Beanie Babies. At one point I made the mistake of saying I didn't want any more bears. Now I've got a patriotic chicken.

Ok, I'm tagging Apryl, Chelsea, Suna & ShadKitty for new tags. I'm re-tagging Lotus, Mojave Sis and Melly and I refuse to feel guilty about it!

I think it's broken...

I kicked a chair today, not intentionally but you know how you walk along and all of a sudden whack it? yeah, that's what I did. I didn't go in since I'm between insurance cards and the weather was super crappy. They actually closed the colleges and many businesses closed early. It didn't seem worth risking the drive, fighting with insurance just to have them say "yep, you broke it" since they can't do much with little toes anyway.

This is especially bad since there was a ton of snow and I had to dig the car out of the parking lot to put it on the street so they could plow the lot (or have a $50 fine) and then I had to dig it out of the street where it had been drifted and plowed in. And then dig a spot in the parking lot because they plowed last at 3pm and there's been a ton of snow and drifting since then so you can't tell they plowed at all. Between asthma and toe... ugh. And on top of this, very little knitting today.

In other news, Mojave Sis is happily on Ravelry now as mojaveknitter.
